AGA Greater Columbus President
Nancy Zmyslinski, CGFM

Nancy Zmyslinski was appointed as the Deputy for Strategic Business Management in October 2008. In this position, she is responsible for developing the strategy and leading strategic business activities and initiatives for the agency; standardizing and integrating functional requirements; integrating and operationalizing new systems, policies and procedures into DFAS business processes; and leading the DFAS transformation.

Ms. Zmyslinski served as director of DFAS Columbus from October 2004 to October 2008. She was responsible for the day-to-day operation of a modern, $80 million complex and more than 3,000 federal employees involved in the accounts payable, accounts receivable, contract pay, travel pay accounting and disbursing mission areas that support the Department of Defense. DFAS Columbus is also the Center of Excellence for Acquisition Accounting, the agency’s largest customer mission area.
Ms. Zmyslinski was also the DFAS Client Executive for the Air Force and multiple Defense agencies. She has been with the federal government since 1980 and previously served as Director and Deputy Director of Accounting Services for DFAS Columbus. Prior to that, she was the first project officer of the Chief Financial Officer’s Act Compliance Project Office, Director of Executive Support and Director of Accounting at DFAS Columbus.
 
Other federal service includes positions as a management analyst and accountant from 1980 to 1983 at the Defense Depot, Memphis, Tennessee, and from 1983 to 1988 at the Defense Construction Supply Center, Columbus, Ohio.

Ms. Zmyslinski is a Certified Government Financial Manager and a member of the American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC) and the Association of Government Accountants (AGA). She is a past president of both the ASMC’s Buckeye chapter and the AGA’s Greater Columbus chapter, a past regional vice-president of the Ohio-Michigan region of the AGA and the current president-elect of the Greater Columbus AGA chapter.


She majored in accounting at the University of North Dakota and earned Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. 

Ms. Zmyslinski was selected for induction into the Senior Executive Service on November 12, 2002.
